At Iowa Distilling Company, we’re all about celebrating our heritage. Because that’s what we’ve always known. We know corn and we know Iowa’s soil – we’ve been working with it for years. We also know the farmers who grow our grain and the people at the local farmers’ co-op who help us load it into our truck. They are our friends and family, and we try to make them proud of every bottle that comes off our still. It’s the Iowa way.
We have always been proud of our product has been made locally, but when Kyle Doyle took the reins in November of 2016, he saw untapped potential in this ‘little distillery that could.’ It’s not surprising, considering he grew up just miles from Cumming, IA. In fact, he had his first drink (at the age of 21, of course) at the Cumming Tap. Some people have to get out of town to make dreams come true. Others see the dream right in front of them. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, where he watched his dad grow a business from the ground up, Kyle knew what he had to do. Or rather, what he was destined to do.
While local roots and tradition have built Iowa Distilling Company, Kyle’s goal is to share this gem with all of Iowa. Because Iowans have a way of supporting each other in a way that doesn’t happen anywhere else. We know our neighbors, we celebrate our friends, and we help each other grow and thrive. We’re happy to be part of a movement to bring more people together through Iowan pride and local spirits. Cheers, friends!
Our History
At Iowa Distilling Company, we aim to bring distilling back to its roots on the farm. Farming goes back generations in our families. We know corn and we know Iowa’s soil – we’ve been working with it for years. We know the farmers who grow our grain and the people at the local farmers’ co-op who help us load it into our truck. They are our friends and family, and we try to make them proud of every bottle that comes off our still.
Distilling was once a normal part of farming grain. In the past, many farms were equipped for distilling as a means of using surplus grain. We’re happy to carry on the tradition!
Our Distillery
Iowa Distilling Company is located in a 100-year-old brick building in Cumming, Iowa (Warren County). Cumming is a small town of about 350 people located in the center of corn country. We see corn fields when we look out our front windows; not factories or city streets. The typical traffic along Cumming Avenue is tractors and farm equipment. We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
It’s an honest, hard working community that reflects the best of America’s Heartland. We hope that you can taste that heritage in every sip of our Iowa spirits.
